I now know:

- The comments and individual post pages are screwed up. I've put an order into the Smorgasblog helpdesk. As soon as the helpdesk returns from whatever adventure he's on, he will get right on it.

- For some reason (probably kickbacks), the Illinois DMV accepts cash, check, money order and Discover, but not Visa or Mastercard.

- For some reason, the Illinois DMV will not even give you the time of day if you don't bring a Social Security card. Got a passport, driver's license and apartment lease? Tough cookies.

- We have reached a new low in slow news days.

Maybe it's because Discover used to be part of the Sear financial 'empire' - I can imagine Sears pressuring the state that way, back when they had power and weren't part of KMart....

I tried to tell you that, but your site wasn't taking my comments. When I moved from DC 2 years ago, the process of getting my IL license was a complete pain in the a$$. Just like you, I had my W2, my passport, even my selective service card (with my social on it). But they refused to give me my state credentials with ye ol' SS Card. Ridiculous. You also have to pass a test, regardless if you have been driving for 50 years. First time licensee's need to do it.

I don't remember the DMV only accepting Discover. Strange.

It could be because the Discover card was originally created by Sears, and Sears is based in IL...

I’m sure all guys who write comments are teens or even younger. If you are older, than shame on you!
