At the risk of sounding politically incorrect, Traffic Committee chairman Burton F. Natarus (42nd) said he fears for the safety of pint-sized women struggling to control the flow of traffic at downtown intersections."Quite frankly, they ought to have some taller people. Some of the ladies are rather small. I don't like to pick on the ladies, but they have to have a more impressive presence on the street," said Natarus, whose ward includes the downtown area.
"When people see a small physical person on the street, I don't think it has the same effect. I suppose the ladies are going to be mad at me for saying that, but some of these ladies are going to get run over. I worry about their safety."
Well, he may have a point if you're way up in a commuter tank of some sort. Then again, you get what you deserve if you get ticketed in one of those because you can't see.
