Pining for the swamp

This weekend will be fun if I have any say in the matter, but part of me really, really wants to go back to D.C. for the first time since I made friends out here. Why? Q and Not U's final gigs and Operation Ceasefire with Ted Leo/Pharmacists are on the same weekend.

B. alternately refers to Q and Not U and Ted Leo as "my boyfriend," as in "So hey, the DJ played your boyfriend Q and Not U at the hot hipster club in Miami last night" or "Julie got to interview your boyfriend Ted Leo for the Northwest Current." I think that overstates my feelings just a little bit, but I think a weekend with both of them would cause something approaching sensory overload.

The Chicago scene is no slouch either, with Lincoln Park Oktoberfest featuring the (mostly replacement) English Beat on Friday, the Proclaimers at the Abbey Pub on Saturday (yeah, random, whatevs), and Hot Chip at the Empty Bottle on Sunday. I probably won't go to any of these, but it just goes to show that I'm not suffering from a lack of anything to do.

Anyway, have fun at the shows, my D.C. friends. Take pictures. Jump up and down. Enjoy yourselves. But think of your fallen comrades out in the Midwest.
