I'm sorry I haven't been updating as often as usual these last few days. I had a "special visitor" in from out of town who took up most of my time. She decided to turn off my alarm clock yesterday by turning down the volume to mute instead of flipping the switch on top, so when it went off this morning with plenty of time to wash, dress and go to Contracts, I didn't hear it because it was muted. Contracts started ten minutes ago. I got up five minutes ago. I just thought I should share.
Anyway, since I'm being a truant, I might as well continue with summaries of some of the posts I would have done had there been more time these last few weeks.
- I think I found some 1L bloggers who go to my law school. After going through the posts to tease out clues as to what school these people go to, here are my best guesses: Cella Bellum likes to take "What _____ are you" quizzes. Divine Angst sure has a lot of work to do.
Frequent Citations probably goes to my law school as well. Needless to say, I'll be reading all three. Update: F.C. emailed me to say that we don't go to the same law school. - Illinois sure has a lot of stupid vanity plates:
Yep, nothing says "bling" like a late model green Explorer with the sport package. In any case, I saw another vanity plate the other day (also on an Explorer) that said "I MUMBL2." Is that something to be proud of? Do you want to warn any cop who pulls you over that you're not drunk, just a mumbler? Who the hell is the original "I MUMBL"? Well, at least the vanity plates aren't as bad as Virginia's.
- N.M. is awesome. She hit me up with a promo of the new Gang of Four album. Sure, they're an influence on a lot of bands that are hot right now, but re-recording "Damaged Goods," "I Love a Man in Uniform" and a few other tracks without making any changes is just silly. Also, the production on the whole album is sort of crummy - it sounds like Radio 4's The New Song and Dance for chrissakes. Sans the low-fi sound or any fancy new approach, the old songs are bound to sound flat when performed by middle-aged men more than a quarter-century after the release of Entertainment!. Still, it's better than Editors.
- How excited am I that they're making The Warriors into a video game? Pretty excited for someone who doesn't have a video game system.
- Tai Shan? So lame. All the other baby pandas at Panda Elementary are going to make fun of him. He'll always be butterstick, as far as I'm concerned.
Oh, I forgot to tell you that I saw a commercial for the new Warriors game! Spike TV was showing the movie to celebrate the game's release. I'm glad you discovered this despite my forgetfulness. And I'm glad that I'm awesome even though you didn't like the CD. Maybe you'll like the companion remix album, although I don't have that to send you.
I didn't not like it - it was just OK, that's all.
