This arrived in my email today, a forwarded email originally sent to support staff at a midsized Chicago law firm. The first part of the email is about how busy the firm will be between now and Thanksgiving and what needs to be done to keep everything up and running. It ends with this:

Comments are welcome, complaints will not be tolerated, and I strongly encourage each and every one of you to please pitch in - wherever needed - to help out. If the waiting room needs to be refreshed, do it. If there are dishes in the sink, put them in the dishwasher. If the [messengers] are unavailable and a witness needs to be walked to court, offer to help. I am looking for gracious cooperation and teamwork, because coupled with the important trials, construction will be starting soon, and we are all going to be affected by this. I want to see smiling, happy, cooperative, "love my job" faces and not sour, complaining, "not my job" attitudes.

If this was directed at you, would you not firebomb the place? I would.

This is the tyrannical decree of a man who has just blown the years janitorial budget on his office redecoration.

Or else it was written by the same person at my company who threatened to send only non-exempt employees home for wearing open toed shoes on Fridays.
