This is the end of the line, folks. Two reasons: first, this was the last week of the Tuesday farmer's market outside of the Museum of Contemporary Art. so one source of awesome local apples has dried up. Second, I doubt I can do better than these here cameo apples.

On every vector of apple quality, they top the list. The texture is firm but moist. The sweetness is natural and earthy, not oversweet or overtart. They're neither too big nor too small. For an apple to be any better, it would have to run Linux.

The other day, I had a friend over, and as we were watching TV, I offered an apple, safe in the knowledge that it would blow his mind. Not as into apples as I, he hesitantly agreed and I hurredly came back with a couple of cameos. We watched whatever we were watching and both had a few bites of our respective apples, when he blurts out, "this is a really good apple."
