...OK, that was a bit of a stretch.

Anyway, I got into town last night after a brutal 7.5-hour run down from New York. Every single state on the way had its own, unique traffic jam.

Now the sun is up and it seems like y'all have let things go to the dogs in my absence. First of all, there are Fenty signs everywhere. "Shiny-headed mullah," anyone? If you elect this guy, he'll restrict booze sales, ban violent videogames (right when The Warriors is coming out, no less) and will probably force women to wear burquas. Free yourselves, support anyone else!

Speaking of restricting booze, Adams Morgan's Comet is closing. The A&B Liquors about 10 doors up Columbia Road is no replacement for the real deal. That place outdates nearly every storefront in the neighborhood and serves as a reminder that there was a time when, if you wanted to see yuppies, you had to go at least a few blocks farther west. Oh well. We'll miss ya, Comet.

Anyway, I'll be here for a few days, and I have a very full plate. It's not just parties: I fully intend, by the time my plane takes off for the frigid tundra of the Upper Midwest, to have re-opened Visions, saved Comet and got Q and Not U back together.
