Crazy Eddie was a discount consumer electronics chain in the New York area that advertised heavily (and obnoxiously) during the my formative years using an over-excited radio announcer screaming about how the prices are so low that it's in-saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaane!
Thanks to YouTube, we can re-live these classics of bad local advertising:
On a side-note, "Crazy Eddie" himself, Eddie Antar, brought Crazy Eddie's down in a storm of financial mismanagement and fraud and then fled to Israel, taking the name "David Cohen," which he shared with a writer for Futurama, who created the robot electronics salesman "Malfunctioning Eddie." Speaking of which, Futurama is returning to TV with new episodes on Comedy Central. Eddie Antar, however, will probably not return to the consumer electronics business.
Crazy Eddie was real? I thought it was just a creation from "The Brave Little Toaster".
