The cockpit
Picture this: your average Sunday evening, after Entourage and Family Guy but before bed. Sure, you can pop on a CD, pour a glass of wine and unwind like the yuppie you've gone to law school to become, but that's just not... sufficiently interactive.
This is how we do around these parts: on a lark, I bought an iDJ on Craigslist. Add in a kitchen utility table, an old record player and speakers from a roomates' neglected desktop computer, and you have a DJ booth in the privacy and convenience of your own home. It's great for parties - if you can get one, I highly reccomend it.
Snap product review: The iDJ is a very slick piece of equipment, easy on the eye and fairly compact. It's easy to set up and has plugs for record and CD players. On the downside, there's no pitch control and the level indicator lights don't divide up between Program A and Program B, which means you can't really get a good idea of the levels of the Program that isn't playing before you play it. A professional mixer it's not, but for $150, it's a nice home unit.

You light up my life
Oh, and that record on the turntable? It's The Satanic Twins, the new limited-edition double-LP Of Montreal remix album. Wanna hear a crunked-out version of "Wraith Pinned to the Mist"? Get your copy from Polyvinyl Records before they run out.
Kick ass.
Awwwww jeaaaaaaaaz. I liked rockin that thing. And then accidently unplugging it, then plugging it back in, then accidently turning it off... but I still want one for my birthday, please.
