Music for Law Students: If it's about the law, it's not procrastinating

Given the success of last year's musical offerings for finals, here's something new for Evidence:

"Bizarre Hearsay Triangle"

(to the tune of New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle")

Every time I impeach you
I need to get another’s statement through
Not an original line so it's a problem I find
Admitting hearsay puts me in a bind
There are exceptions I can see
Like for the truth of the matter, it can’t be
But if that’s what it shows
present sense impression flows
The statement’s in and the factfinder knows

Admissions of a party opponent
Regularly conducted activity
Statement for a diagnosis
Are all exceptions to hearsay

Public records, vital stats are good
Learned treatises usually should
Get in on trial day, if you know what to say
Like a conviction handed down yesterday
An unavailable witness means
Former testimony’s in
I do admit reputation
Or a physical condition
Then the jury’ll see see just what he said to me

Admissions of a party opponent
Regularly conducted activity
Statement for a diagnosis
Are all exceptions to hearsay
