So I was listening to WXRT on the way to school the other day when they played Elvis Costello's "Oliver's Army." The song has the N-Word in it, so I waited with baited breath to see whether they'd bleep it or whether they have a radio version. Surprise - they played it unedited! Aren't rap songs purged of the N-Word before they make it to the airwaves, and if so, isn't it worse for a white guy to be using it?

Perhaps it's the way it's being used... Costello is using it as a criticism of Oliver Cromwell and British Colonialism.
Then again, it's probably just because most people can't understand what he's saying... :)
