Best Superbowl catch ever? Perhaps. Let's go to the videotape:
Here's my case: First, Eli shoots out of the back of a messy scrum when it looked certain he'd be swallowed by the pile. Then, he quickly spots a receiver and drills the ball - this wasn't some lucky long bomb tossed out into the ether. Then, Tyree catches it with one hand and his helmet, all while fighting off Rodney Harrison. As he comes down, he gets another hand on the ball and presses it to his helmet while maintaining control of the ball despite a big, beefy arm in his face. If Tyree was out there all by himself and Eli was safe in the pocket, it would still have been a highlight reel catch. Not only was it a third down conversion and a 32-yard gain, it set the stage for a by-the-books touchdown pass that, quite unfairly, gets the lion's share of time on the highlight reel.
Yep. Best Superbowl catch ever.
